Small earthquake in northern New Jersey

A small earthquake hit northern New Jersey, on Monday night, but no injuries or damage were reported, authorities said.

The magnitude-3 Quake Beaten at 10:34 pm (0334 GMT), two miles southeast of Victoria Gardens, according to the U. S. Geological Survey.

There were no reports of injuries or damage to the Morris County town 35 miles from New York, Dover, New Jersey, police officer Walter Michalski.

However, authorities and news outlets numerous calls from people who felt tremors and thought it was a blast.

Bruce Presgrave, a geophysicist from the USGS National Earthquake Center in Colorado, like a small earthquake was not unusual and usually causes no damage or injuries.

“This earthquake is the size, in some cases not even all feel, but this time of night … it’s much more likely that people feel,” he said in a telephone interview.
